Question Help? : How to create a vector shape without Xtreme

Hello! I have been playing around with X3D6 for a little while now and have learned how to make a few things but I have seen ppl make these..
    http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...IsGone/tag.gif
What I dont understand is how do I get that shape without having extreme?
I know it can be done because I have friends that do it and they dont have extreme. Can someone help please?

What I actually want to use is quite larger than that, but I want it to keep the shape http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...goddi1copy.gif

I dont want it spinning or nothing like that as I know how to make it move the way I would like for it too

    Hi welcome to TG

What you need is a drawing - if you don't have one you have to make one.

If you make one from scratch it helps a lot if it is a vector drawing made with xtreme/illustrator/coreldraw/inkscape etc.

You can use photoshop/paintshoppro etc too - but they are not vector programs.
This may not matter as far as the drawing itself goes, but if you wish to use xara3D you would then need to vectorise the shape first, which can be tricky

    Hope this helps

    that is bitmap to vector.

Now you can search and google easier.

    Hi Mary,

    Welcome to Talkgraphics.

I believe that Xara3D6 still includes Xara Webster when you purchase the program.

Xara Webster is a vector application similar to Xara Xtreme (it is a lite version compared to Xtreme without some of Xtreme's features). You can draw the vector shape you would need to use in Xara3D6 using Webster. Save the .web file from webster and import it into Xara3D6. Use the raster image you posted as a texture.

    Agreed

If you really want to put that image into xara3D then you will probably need to hand trace right round all the edges to get the vector shape.

Its a bit low resolution for autotrace - might work but the chain links could be a pain

Apart from the chains the rest of the image is fairly straight forward. Here's a sample without the sizing pixels removed.

You can create the vector shapes within Webster.
