Need a little help with logo

I have a friend that wanted me to make him a logo similar to the Superman logo but with a V instead of the S on the shield.

Here's one of many attempts. Any help on this would be greatly welcome.

I would give the serifs sharp corners personally, and perhaps keep the 'arms' of the V straight?

The thing is to get the balance between style, impact and readability, so I would do something like this.

I like the bottom left.. I think if you made variations with that one (experiment with it) you will find what you're looking for (or what your friend is looking for)

ok, it is nearly my bedtime and could not resist playing with the Super V's. So here is my 2cents worth. Did you want them beveled, or shiny or just for us to come up with various design options? I have attached the Xara file for you just in case you may like one of them.
