    Default Double line with transparency

I have just noticed that when you create a shape and apply a very large line width to it, then make it semi transparent, the line forms an inner & an outer double line, replacing the original single line. The two lines reflect the colours of the shape and the background.
Forgive me if this has already been discussed.
    Is this affect controlable?

Make the line a separate object with no fill and no transparency.

Because you have made the outline transparent you are seeing 1/2 of the line inside the filled shape and 1/2 the line outside the filled shape. Xara automatically places the line this way.

If you need the line to be an exact size, convert the line to shape.

There is another very simple way to avoid the double line (but only if you want the line transparent too) :

Select your shape and press Ctrl+G (that will group the single shape with itself), and then only apply transparency.

This is one of the advantages of group transparency.

Another advantage is that this way you can apply every transparency effect to single lines.

Of course this is a fancy thing that you can group single objects with themselves in Xara !

    kindly,

...yes, grouping after applying a transparency often allows a second transparency effect to be applied. Actually more useful than it sounds..

And do you know you can also apply two different shadows types to the same object ?

    Draw a line or a shape ; apply a floor shadow ; Ctrl+G ; apply a wall shadow !

    Amazing !

    kindly,

You can do that anyway without grouping by using the LE tool.

Yes, but they do all have the first party Xara Bitmap shadow LE plugin. There are a bunch of bugs tho I should point out...

I tried LE too for that, but you are right, Ctrl+G seems more reliable and previsible.

I was trying to figure out how to do the double shadow so I appreciate both answers. I don't know what the LE is but I understand the group procedure of doing it. I have version 2.
