    Default my glass effort

Although i use Xara most of the time lately, I was always fascinated with the creation of glass material in a design program.

I did the tutorials for Xara, now I wanted to try my hand in Illustrator from scratch with no tutorials involved.

The perspective of the glass will be a bit off, since I decided on the last minute which image to put it in. (which is my desktop by the way).

    Comments and advice are appreciated

Very nice, I know how difficult that is to do in Illustrator

Very nice drawing and it wouldn't take that long to get the perspective right. I am sure that you would agree that the difference between Illy and Xara is not that much once you have gotten use to the finger hopping around the Shift, Ctrl and alt keys.

Really a big Thank You for sharing your drawing I will try tomorrow to show one that I did from a tutorial 2 years back in which I also got the perspective wrong which might help.

Thanx for the input guys.. I appreciate that.

This design has so many elements, that I am afraid it will be a nightmare to put the perspective right. I would be better off placing it in a different surrounding.

I am looking forward though, Albacore, to see how you solved the perspective problem in your drawing..

    Take care.

I didn't solve the perspective because I got so involved in this drawing that it did not hit me until I showed in the gallery then I got it between the eyes. For the purpose here I have taken a Fizzy Tablet out to show that the perspective is different from the top rim of the glass to the bottom of the glass. If I have 1/2 hour today will post back tomorrow with glass fixed and 3D tablet back in. This was a tutorial from a UK mag called Creative Digital Arts which was a great mag. as it wasn't as arty fartty as Computer Arts is today.

Many thanks for your kind words Geminiguy. Here is the glass with the fizy tablets and corrections to the bottom to get the perspective right. Lost some of the drama, if you can call it that, from the drawing at the bottom. Digital CreativeArts, as the mag was called, gave really usable tutorials much like Garys in the Xone though without the same detail on how to do it but it was achievable shame that it went bust.

That is a very realistic and clean looking glass Albacore. Thank you for showing the corrections you did.
I got a pretty good idea now how to fix mine..

    Thanx again..

In my opinion a tutorial that Egg did years ago, I mean years ago, is a great starting point for any one doing glass and although I have not tried to do it in Illy I think it could be achieved. This is the link: http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest17/index.htm

If any help is required I will gladly try and sort out any problem.
