xtreme won't load

Hi everyone! I have just downloaded Ubuntu and installed it on a laptop. I work with Xara a lot so I downloaded the linux version.
It installed ok. but won't run. It is this version RecXaraLX0.7_rev1692.package.

I get the message Deleted stale lock file'/home/gareth/Xara-Xtreme-wx-xaralx-gareth'

Can anyone help me please.

Thank you for your reply Bill.

I'm afraid it doesn't help though. I tried uninstalling Xara and then re-starting, then doing a new install, and I got the same message, then I tried reloading again and this time it said that an extremely serious error had occurred.

Anyone any ideas please?

Gareth when you received the message about deleting the lock file did you click ok so the program would run?

Deleting the locking file is a normal operation if the program was terminated abnormally.

Ubuntu distro does have some issues that may be the cause of XaraLX not running. http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...ghlight=ubuntu

I have no trouble with the package for XaraLX from the download site:

http://www.xaraxtreme.org/download/

The 1785 build works fine with 32-bit Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 and Feisty 7.04.

Had the same issue when I upgraded to Mandriva 2008. Solved it as above, downloading the 1785 version. It demanded I install ImageMagick, but that was easily done.
