Child-windows open out of reach

I'm having problems with other windows that Xara makes - they get snuck under my gnome bar, and so I can't close them:

A temporary solution is to move the gnome bar to the sides or bottom, but it's annoying .

Hold your Alt button down on the keyboard and click anywhere on the window to move it i.e click and drag. Dont know if this works in Gnome but this is what I usually do when windows go out of reach.

Edit: Just tried it and it doesnt work with child windows for me anyway, might work for you...funny thing is left clicking and dragging changes the size of the window but right clicking and dragging wont move it, could be my setup so its well worth a try

Yeah, that's the thing, alt doesn't work on them.

But they started appearing fine now, so I'm not sure what was the problem.
