PhotoInpact enters wait state when saving large graphics

Not infrequently when saving a large graphic, PhotoImpact goes into a terminal wait state that can only be satisfied by a ctrl-alt-del end process procedure. All work is lost.

I have 1gb of memory. The processor is 2.5gh and there are 25gb available on drive C.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

does this happen why the "invoke options dialog box" is checked in the save dialog box?
