Accessing Menu Bar

I have lost my Menu Bar. (I may have accidentally clicked on something or hit a key combination in error.)

How do I unhide it please? I used F1 to look at Help but all the View options are accessed from the Menu Bar which I can't see . . .

Please can anyone help?

A friend of mine has found that the 'deleting backarrow' key brings back the menu.
This key toggles the screen between normal and a not-quite full-screen view.

Hope this helps anyone else who gets into this situation.
