    Default Licence terms

    According to www.xara.com, specifically
    http://support.xara.com/index.php?_m...&nav=0,433,438
you can install copies of xara extreme on more than 1 computer provided only one user uses it
however the EULA of the product specifically states you cannot
So just what is the official answer

If you do a search here, Charles did post that It is premissible to have it on more than one as long as only one person uses it. I have used the same license at work and at home with no problems for years.

At least, that is what I remember seeing. Also things can change... As the new owners might not like to be so nice.

Thanks, unless told otherwise I will put it on 2 pcs here at home, they are both minbe and I am the only one who uses them so I'll go with that, it's not an issue with xara 3D6, i have 2 licences, one bought on its own and onew with pro3.2

I did a bit of searching and didn't find anything, but I probably just used the wrong search terms.

    thanks again.

Hmm does this mean that you may use the program on several computers?
I remember from other programs that you could put them on several computers but were not allowed to use them at the same time.
So you were allowed only to use one of the programs at a time.
    Just curious.

this isn't something which i've ever been affected by or really was aware of as i only have the one computer but to buy software and then to have buy a license to use it on another computer sounds ridiclous in fact it sounds like a scam to me how can they make you pay to use the disc you've paid for on another computer is it not your property once you've paid for it?

Nope, lots of times you paid for the right to use the program.
Just like money never becomes your property.
I have virussoftware and for every computer I have to have a license.
Now that isn`t a problem because the softwaremanufacturer allows me
to have it on 3 computers, and I have 3 PC`s (the other 2 are amiga`s)

But you may usually place it on several computers, the only thing is
that you may not use the programs at the same time. So if you want to start
a version on another computer you should shut down the program on the computer you are using at that time.

So you could have a version at work and at home. and when at work
use that one, and when you come home you can use the version at home.

Certainly you own the disc. But you don't own the software. You pay for the license to use it.
I think this is true for all payware, though there are some exceptions no doubt.

Nothing here about shutting it down on the first while you use it on a second PC.

Can I install my Xara software on to more than one computer?

    Solution

Yes, the license allows you to install copies onto as many computers as you require - so long as you are the only user. For example, you could install it on both your desktop and laptop computers.

Xara reserves the right to withdraw this facility from anyone it suspects of abusing it.

Hmm nice to know, most software (atleast what I have) doesn't allow
you to use several versions at the same time. Thanks for the info.

But Xtreme is so fast that I really don`t need to have several versions
    at the same time.

When I bought the license last December I installed Web Designer Premium 365 on my home desktop and laptop. I believe 3 machines were allowed and I would now like to install a copy on my office desktop. However, I've forgotten how to access the correct page to accomplish that, or the website has changed. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
