    Default outlining dotted/dashed strokes

Can anybody tell me how to outline dotted/dashed strokes in illustrator CS?

I need them to appear as individual dots, rather than a solid stroke.

Tried everything and its driving me mad!!!

    Thanks in advance,

Well if it it a broken line (-------) in the stroke palette, just tick the box where it states "dashed line" and the in the top line where it shows the stroke end just pick the shape of the dashes. If it is a dotted line (........) why not use a font or make a brush or do a blend, there are various ways around your problem. If it wasn't a mental block come back later and in the morning, UK time, I can give some help.

Albacore, sorry mate, I didn't explain myself properly.

Client has sent the artwork to me and it has a lot of dashed and dotted stroke lines in the artwork (made up of the dash-dot-dash-dot boxes in the stroke palette). I need to convert these from being a dashed/dotted stroke to individual objects that we can cut in vinyl.

Normally, I would just go to Object>Path>Outline stroke but this, as you will know, turns the dashed line into a solid line instead.

    Thanks for the help mate,

Go to Object - Flatten Transparency and check the Convert All Strokes to Outlines box.

Just a note to Coningham - to say thank you very much! I stumbled on this forum via Googling the problem, and your solution works a treat!
