    Thumbs up Messerscmitt

As this was originally posted in the wrong forum, the folks here who visit the
Xara Gallery may have missed this:http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=17714
Emel, it would be a pity if people did not get another chance to see this fine rendition of yours of this car.
I seem to remember that one of the advantages of the Messerschmitt was cheaper road tax, in the UK anyway, because of the engine's small c.c.
Jens' comments about highlights, and other observations are spot on too.
A reflection on the door panel would look good too. I expect Parahandy will enjoy this, as well.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Thanks for reposting Bob, I didn't see it first time round. I was once overtaken by one of those wee cars and I was doing 80mph.

    Norman,
At the risk of going off topic,
your tale reminds me of the old song by The Playmates - "Beep Beep" from 1958 (gosh, very nearly 50 years old). I must have been just out of the cradle when this was released. Here are the lyrics, if a youngster such as yourself doesn't quite remember it:

    (very slowly)
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep
    While riding in my Cadillac
    What to my surprise
A little Nash Rambler was following me
    About one third my size
The guy musta wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

    (slowly)
I pushed my foot down to the floor
To give the guy the shake
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind
He still had on his brake
He musta thought his car had more guts
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep)
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

    (normal speed)
My car went into passing gear
And we took off with gust (whoosh)
    Soon we were going ninety
Musta left him in the dust
When I peeked in the mirror of my car
    I couldn't believe my eyes
The little Nash Rambler was right behind
You'd think that guy could fly
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

    (quickly)
Now we were doing a hundred and ten
    This certainly was a race
For a Rambler to pass a Caddy
    Would be a big disgrace
The guy musta wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep)
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

    (very quickly)
Now we're going a hundred twenty
As fast as I can go
The Rambler pulled along side of me
As if we were going slow
The fella rolled down his window
And yelled for me to hear
"Hey buddy how do I get this car outa second gear?"

Strikes a chord with me, anyway. I've attached a picture of the album from whence it came.
Is there any chance of you doing a Nash Rambler at all?
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Bill, unashamedly I attach a picture from the link you supplied, just look at all those highlights! "Those days are gone forever", to quote Steely Dan; unless people actually become far more mindful of their carbon footprint. Fun cars too.
I can imagine Ron Duke Or Jose Campoy to name but a few having a field day with this. Any takers?
    Thanks again, Bill,
    Saludos,
    Bob.

    Hello Norman,
Whilst I suspect (but I've no proof) that the model referred to in the song is the 1950 compact model, a picture is available here:
    http://www.mrtraffic.com/1950nash.jpg
There's a better quality picture of the 1956 model in two tone green and cream which in my opinion is the more stylish, at:
    http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/...sh_Rambler.jpg
It strikes me that most modern production models look almost identical and are missing that classic styling of 30 to 50 years ago.
    Nothing stays the same, eh?
    Saludos,
    Bob.
