The texture should be the approximately the same size as the original vector (in this case the size between the 2 black cut-off blocks) and slightly larger.
The 'Xara' texture is of course the same size.

That was fun that one. Here's my attempt using Salaam's technique.

I'm getting there. I now just have to tweak the texture as I am getting part of side 2 rotating into view each revolution. I think I just need to adjust the texture image to have more white space to the left and right of the actual image.
Blowed if I can see where to put an attachment to this message so I can show you what I mean!
Think I found where attachments are!
Nice one Egg.
I thought I'd extend on it.
Andy you will have to make your images smaller to get around the problem of it appearing on the other side.
It's a mugs' game, this, but I can see it is time for another mug shot
I haven't used sizing pixels, and my handle puts the rotation centre off-axis, so I haven't tried to spin this one but this one came out quite nicely.
Some ingenious work there, Anas, Andy and Egg.

Hi Mike,
I'm still not with you when you say the shape with the texture is rotated 90 degrees. Could you explain that in more detail please?

Hi, Egg, the shape with the texture is not rotated, the outer cylinder is rotated 90 degrees so that it is vertical, otherwise it would be horizontal, with the circular end facing the viewer.

Thanks for the tip Salaam, I was going the wrong way! I was trying to increase the distance between the actual image and the left/right edges of the texture. I'm glad to see the thread got the creative juices flowing!
How do you guys put up the rotating image on here as an "attached image"? Has the X3D file been exported as an animated GIF, then attached as an image?
Love the new mug design Mike, and thanks to Egg for his youtube video's, they are an invaluble resource. Xara got back to me on educational pricing so it looks like you guys have got another paid up member of this community! Andy
