Default Monitor and Printer Calibration! How??

    Hi,

It is obvious that my camera image is very different form what I see on my monitor screen and even worse printed out!

I understand that I need to calibrate my systems, but how?

I have had a look online and found the Huey thing, Spyder and the Eye One, but although they seem to do the same thing, they vary greatly in price.... So which one do you suggest Please?

I notice that with the Spyder, the hardware seemed to be the same and it was the software that was different!?

Do you get what you pay for?

    Is it worth it?

All the best and Happy Painting

We use the Spyder one at work and we usual try and calibrated once every 3 months. Don't use it at home because of the price but do use Adobe's gamma correction which is straight forward and is as accurate as I need considering it is free. Heard good reports about the Pantone software but again is it worth the money? Got a new monitor last week still to calibrate that one.

Most modern Video Cards come with a calibration check.

Paint Shop Pro has a gamma calibration utility.

There are some free utilities that check monitor calibration and some very expensive ones available.

Some monitors have built-in calibration and degaussing.

The link below has several suggestions for monitor and printer calibration from a photo studio perspective.
