    Default Disabled shift key hand

    My wife keeps on handing me the baby while I am trying to work.

    Is there a way of selecting 2 objects without using the keyboard?

    Salaam,

    If you balance your babies heel just over the shift key .... ;-}

    You can hold down the left mouse key whilst dragging over the required objects.

    Good one Egg!
    Also Salaam, with the Selector Tool selected, left-click and hold, drawing from the upper left (just outside of what you are selected) to the lower right (same idea) then release the left mouse button. Everything should be selected, the only thing you might have to do is repeat if all you need isn't selected.

    Ahhh Salaam!

    Fear not the plight of the encumbered spouse no more!

    The one-handed keyboard solution is here!

    Thanks Shaman (although I think you gave the same answer).
    I was thinking more of when the playing area is more congested, where this method would end up selecting items I don't want.

    Even if I could do a one handed de-select that would make me and the baby very happy.

    For now I will have to use Egg's heel trick

    James I'll order two now if only for the 'mate relief button'.

    Depending on how big your baby is, you might want to invest in a sling or "snuggly". That would hold the baby to your chest and leave both hands relatively free.

    Similar Salaam, mine just doesn't involve using the Shift key.
    Good luck!

    Thanks Amoore, a very practical idea.
    The added problem though is that 'er indoors' usually only gives me my son with a bottle. So I still need one hand to feed him.

    Anyway I have thought up this solution:
    - Using the blend tool,
    - Select the 2 objects you wish to work on as if you want to blend them.
    - Since you do not wish blend these;
    - Click on 'remove blend'.
    - You can now click on the 'selector tool' and the 2 objects will be selected.

    If you want to 'subtract' (or whatever), one object from the other, you will have to make sure that you left click on the correct object first.

    Salaam - That's a very cool workaround. Good luck with your son, at least he's learning Xara at the right age.........

    Just marquee select them. This was covered earlier. Drag a selection rectangle (a marquee) around the objects with the Selector Tool.
