Mike I downloaded the current free version from Apple's website and installed it on Vista Home Premium and it works without any problems.

I used the "Run as Administrator" option by right clicking the installer's filename in Windows Explorer.

Quicktime is only officially released for XP - but it runs under VISTA - Apple are currently asking for feedback from those using it prior to upgrade:

Mike I spent so much time getting the download and finding out what caused the lock ups when trying to access the tutorial and help files. I did not try to do any modeling before having to hit the sack. I never saw any error message to identify what was happening. I found out by trying to open one of the .mov files and got the same lock up that it was due to not having Quicktime Player installed. After installing Quicktime I opened the help and tutorial pdf files and the links to the .mov files within the pdf worked. I spent time reading some of the help and the tutorials.

I'll give Hexagon a good work out tonight and post my findings.

    Hexagon 2.2 works in Vista....

if you don't have a video card that supports OpenGL 1.4 you may experience unpredictable results

I made some test modeling on 3 machines:

Machine 1: Intel Dual Core 1.8GHz processors 2GB DDR2 RAM Intel video with 82945G fast chipset. Vista Home Premium.
Does not display the Hexagon 2.2 interface accurately so trying to model and access the Tools is very difficult.

Machine 2: AMD Athlon 900MHz processor 1GB RAM ATI Radeon 9550 video card with 256MB video RAM. Vista Home Premium.
Hexagon 2.2 reported that OpenGL 1.4 is not supported by the video card. Interface displays accurately and modeling was easy after adapting to the interface/mouse/key requirements.

Machine 3: AMD Athlon 900MHz processor 256MB RAM nVidia GForce 4 video card with 128MB video RAM. Windows XP Professional.
Hexagon 2.2 reported that OpenGL 1.4 is not supported by the video card. Interface displays accurately and modeling was easy after adapting to the interface/mouse/key requirements.

As with many graphics applications the video card in the machine determines how well a program will work, regardless of the OS.

Yea, I will buy a PCIe video card for my newest computer. It is the machine that has issues displaying the Hexagon interface.

Yea, that durn vcard/driver issue seems to have been in effect forever... you would think that all of this stuff would have been ironed out a long time ago...

This is akin to buying a car only to have it run like crap on certain grades of fuel... comeon already... should be turn the key and go go go eh.... the better the grade the faster you go.... but the lowest grade should cause no sputtering no matter eh
