    Default tricky transparency

    Hi,

please take a look at the following image:
    http://uploads.inkscape-forum.de/2007/05/making-of.jpg
It's a guitar from a german Inkscape user.

It seems not so easy to reproduce the last shape with the black outline and the tricky transparency in Xara Xtreme. How would you do it?

Well you can use a contoured transparent stroke something like this...

Thanks a lot Miro and Gerry!

Gerry, your solution with the contour width is surprising and easy to manage.

Miro, your solution is a little bit more complex, but the result becomes still finer.

    I will test both ways.

    Much obliged,
    Remi

Here's my attempt, using a process similar to minimiro's. Not as good as your example pic, though.

Saw this thread and started messing around. I have no idea why I drew what I did... weird!

    Yup, it is weird.

Wouldn't worry about it though. Happens to all of us sometimes. Besides, some of those weirdies turn out to be useful later.

Thank you for your tips, Bob and Xhris.

I've used the feather/clipview technique for a short study. By changing the feather profile it's possible to do some fine-tuning.
