    Default Arc?

I've searched on 'arc' and have raised only methods that don't work for me. How do I create an arc with X Xtreme?

A Quickshape ellipse overlayed with a line... ellipse turned into an editable shape... ellipse and line selected... Arrange > Combine > Slice results only in a circle with a pie wedge taken of it.

Draw your elipse, convert to editable shapes use shape editor tool to select nodes at both ends (hold shift key) and then click on "break shapes icon.
De select and then select and delete the arc you don't want.

This is how I do it.
1: Draw a line with the pen tool.
2: With the shape editor tool grab the line in the center and pull it into a curve (arc).
    3: Adjust as required.

Kiwi - that does it. Thanks, Mike, another option. However, I need my arc to be part of a circle or very regular ellipse and I haven't found a way to make one more or less freehand using the pen-and-grab.

    Much appreciated.

In step 2 did you mean "Set fill to Transparent?"

    Yes, doesn't that make sense?

Not to me it doesn't. If you set the fill to transparent (100%) the circle disappears. Are you sure you didn't mean set fill to none?

    Egg,
Your right. Step 2 should be SET FILL TO NONE
