When you export a static or animated gif from Xara 3D you can choose the transparent option from the export settings. This will give you a transparent background. Of course to get the gif to belend as seamlessly as possible with your target background it is still worth setting the background in Xara 3D to the colour or bitmap of your target file.

As for your .drw file I don't have a program that will open this to give it a try. However see if you can export it as a .wmf and import it into Xara 3D from there.
