Newbie question: My tools aren't working, help?

I was drawing something on Photoshop 7.0, but after a while I just couldn't continue drawing. When I wanted to colour with the brushes, I was unable to do so. I've checked and my layers aren't locked and the oppacity is untouched. What can I do to fix this?

If you were using the pen tool or the vector shapes to draw with, you then have to convert that layer so that you can paint on it or use filters etc.
Go to menu- layer- rasterize- fill or shape, now you can do other things with that layer.
If I have got things wrong and photoshop just locked up on you, it could be any one of hundreds of windows problems.

if you are new in photoshop
look if you are still working in normal modus
it is one of the things that sometimes I also forgot
another thing what happens is when doing things like scaling you have to confirm before continuïng
