Default Illustrator CS3 upgrade - loaded & working

I had trouble getting Ill3 on my machine, called tech service and they helped get me loaded, but still problem, would not boot up. Checked the User to User groups in Illustrator. Others had a similar problem. Here is the fix:
HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\classes\svg. delete this file or change to System all, also do the same to the svgz file. This is done through regedit. Should not have to do something like this to make it work.

Is the upgrade worth it, time will tell? I wish they had an easy curve tool like Serif Draw Plus and Expression. I do ok with the pen tool in programs.

When I started running inkscape I had problems getting it to open and save svg files correctly - I hacked a solution.
Just recently I traced the problem to adobe svg reader which my [ancient] version of illustrator had installed without my realising it.
    This removed problem solved.
