    Thanks Geo

I think he/she/it has already got the part, I'll know for sure when I've finished the model sheets.

Just finished a project for a customer. Here's an example... a meteorlogic scanner. Not sure what it's used for, though. The customer just wanted icons or representations of the items.

This is based on a painting by William Bouguereau.
I mainly just wanted to get some practice using Xara Xtreme.

Under Construction...Hollow Earth mark III, with a lot more detail. 300 vertical strips of world map mapped onto 150 rings, and exported into Xara3D. A lot of slog, but it is getting there!

I, too, got sucked in by the transparent globe thang.

in fact, got so involved, i ended up working out the methodology to make a globe rotate in 3 dimensions (this one rotates in one). spent weeks working out the idea, cursing Ron all the while.

in the end, i abandoned the project before the final step which involved two 3 level matrixes of images which were sliced in opposing directions (one down and right, the other up and left) along a parabolic line, then rotated in opposite directions from either end toward the center....

i ran outta advil and i had left a project sitting for weeks as i agonized over this madness.

i did write a tutorial of my method for the attached (which is actually, relatively simple), if anyone would like a copy.

    Frank,

    Re this thread, post #9:

Here's part of an A4-sized project I'm working on.

Not exactly art, but it does fulfill a function.
I take it that this is a map of the platforms in the North Sea sector with bearings and distances from Aberdeen for use by helicopters. Excellent charts. One thing that puzzles me is why are the bearings in 6 degree intervals? It seems a strange interval to choose and there must obviously be a reson for it.
