    Default Color -> Grayscale

    I've used Photoshop most of my photo-editing life, but now I've just gotten Painter X.

    In photoshop, to convert an image from RGB/CMYK to Grayscale I just went to Mode>ConvertToGrayscale. I can't do it on painter, it's driving me crazy, and I can't figure it out with helper, google, or even going through every palette.

    I can't figure it out. I just can't. Call me stupid, call me whatever you want, but please just tell me how to do it. And don't tell me to go to channels and shut off the RBG eye, I can't do anything to that channel, it's unlockable.

    Worked perfectly.
    So simple, yet so far away.

    Corel Painter only works in RGB color and does not have true greyscale.

    If you really need true greyscale, you'll need to use Photoshop.

    I just do what troutB suggested, desaturate the image using Effects > Tonal Control > Adjust Colors and move the Saturation slider all the way to the left.

    As you've discovered, Painter only has the RGB channel, not like Photoshop's RGB, Red, Green, and Blue channels.
