Default Anti-White Export in AI CS2

Ok, the file is CMYK. All colors, fills and strokes are CMYK.
One particular logo that came in as an eps has red, black and white, and an effect shadow set to multiply. With or without the shadow the problem remains.
The problem is when I try to export the artwork my white elements disappear. I am exporting for use as a map in Viz and export as RGB and my raster settings are set to preserve spot colors. When unchecking this I get some better results, but not all.

I have even changed the values of the white to 0/0/0/1 and got ok results.
And I even delted the white elements and tossed a white filled box there, still did not export.

I understand that AI does not always like white pixels, but why and how do I permanently resolve this??

E-mails or posts accepted as problem is timely. Thanks.

Could you show us the problem as I find it slightly hard to understand. I think i know what your getting at, could you not "Save for the Web" and select "png-24". If it is for the web is it not better to have the doc set up for RGB rather than CMYK as you will have a better idea of your output rather than waiting for your export for the web?
    Design is thinking made visual.
