Default Service for turning photos to oil portraits?

Has anybody delt with any companies that take your .jpg file and print/plot it out on Canvas using oil?

I am working on a photoshop / Corel Painter project and I would like to have it printed on Canvas using oil paints.

I didn't know if anybody had any first hand experience with any companies that do this?

    thanks

Interesting concept. I have never heard of this. Do you have any links to these services?

Your profile does not give your location - it is difficult to advise on something like this without knowing where you are.

I have had Paintings created using Painter (personal and for clients) printed on canvas here in the UK and been very pleased with the results - they are not actually printed in oil I doubt that anyone does that, but you would not be able to tell.

Is that the printing process called 'geicle' (sp?) that I have seen referred to?

    I live in Illinois (USA).

My understanding is that some services offer oil on canvas (not ink).

    thanks

I am a full time artist, new to Painter but am quite familiar with the concept. I've been producing and selling my own giclee prints for about 7 years.

I've just purchased a large format Epson 9800 printer which can print on canvas as wide as 44" So far the results are amazing!!! I can honestly say it is nearly impossible to tell the difference from my brush made originals. They look and feel in every way like original oils or acrylics.

I enhanse the final canvas from the 9800 further with real paint and finish them with acrylic protection. Materials are stupid expensive (much more than real paint) but it sure does a good job.

I've not considered a photo service before but it's interesting. If you want I could give you a heads up on what I think it would cost - no obligations.

Do you know of any print shops that do this kind of work around Vancouver?
    Thanks.

    Thanks, I think.

Yes, they are a Vancouver printer-but do they do art prints- Giclee prints etc; ? That's what I was asking about and I see no reference to that sort of printing.
