    Default Favicon's

Can someone explain to me why when I visit a web site the Favicon is showing even if I do not have it saved in my favorites?

I thought the only way someone could see the favicon I made was after they saved the page in their favorites.

    Thanks,

Originally, Internet Explorer only used favicons for bookmarks, newer versions of Internet Explorer and most other browsers also display the favicon in the address bar.

So are you saying if you have IE 7.0 or newer (not that there is a newer version) that you will see the icon if there is one w/o saving it?

It does help as I have seen that site and thank you.

Still does not answer that question why am I able to see other icons on pages I did not save in my favorites?

    Example: http://www.favicon.com/

And also this page I do not have saved, but I see the icon!

Even the link you sent I do not have saved but I see the "W" there.

The people I have told about mine cannot see it till thay save it in the favorites!

That is odd. I am using IE6 and when I click on the Wiki link I still see the IE favicon. Are you using IE or a different browser?

Could also be that the favicons are in cache. If the sites are not in your favorites list, I don't know what else it could be. Sorry I couldn't help.
