I am curious why the above flash animation doesn't appear
    in the forum as intended

If you open the swf file - this is the way it should appear.
Is there a problem with the forum?

    Hi Aridzone,

You entered width=373 height=270. That is the size shown, although I'm not sure you intended for the large white space around the flag. You would need to edit your source file to remove the white space and then re-export the animation .

When opening the .swf file the width and height are not set by html tags so your animation is larger when viewed that way.

    Hi Bill

That's the problem - I shouldn't have any white rectangle around it.
When I view the .swf file it doesn't have one and displays the correct size.
Also my source file doesn't have one and also displays the correct size.
    Any help?

If you download the swf file, you posted here, there is a white rectangle around (within the swf file). Perhaps, you've posted the wrong file?
