As I said I am a complete novice with 3D6 so thought I would need to provide a shape (circle in this case) to fill with the image, if I have mislead anyone due to my lack of ability with 3D6 then I am sorry

    Hello Doc and Tom,

The Paste operation places a vector shape within Xara3D no colour only the shape. The import texture using the bitmapped image puts colour onto the shape. But you can import any texture, not only the one used to trace the shape being used. This allows more freedom in design choice.

Allow me to post some images to support Bill's instruction and to show my appreciation to the forum as well. Because the same as most members I learned a lot from senior members such as Bill. Another reason is, as Raymond said, we all like to show off. Someone's medicine, ours too.

I've noticed I can add background to my image but when I save it the background disappears or only shows in the shadow, why is this?

    cheers

Blootoof, it sounds like you have Transparency selected in the .gif export dialog box. If you want the background to show, you must not select transparency.

blootoof, this is because you're saving as a transparent image. Untick the transparent option and it will save with the background intact.

EDIT:You're beating me to it at every turn today Bill!!!

Got it now cheers This would probably have worked better without the shadow, plus the strange dot at the bottom.

    Blootoof,

I agree, probably better without the shadow. The dot at the bottom is probably due to a minor misplacement of a node on the shape that has the large bevel. I've had hugh spikes happen due to the same problem.

    Cheers Egg,

Just Re-Looking at this (your msg) - Could that be (the Pasting of a Shape) be what is causing my 'Off' Color Centers . . . ???
