    Here is my version to test Xtreme Pro and 3d6. It seems both programs work very well together.

    Inkscape is a work in progress you should always ensure you use the latest stable version currently 0.45, and not developer versions unless you want to test for bugs!
    Even then, it has its foibles and is not as fast as xara for many things
    That said it has some good features both do things the others dont - way of the world
    If you use the inkscape tracer for this sort of thing the default setting should be ok - you may need to adjust the threshold setting
    If you use xara tracer: I tried it on this logo and it worked, but need to be done in photographic mode and then ungrouped and manipulated to get effect

    How do I save the work so it opens up in xara 3d? All I get is ***** is not a valid X3D file when I try to open it in xara 3d. Is there something else I need to do after tracing?

    you need to save it as xar file from xtreme and then import xar file into xara3D
    the xar file should only contain the traced shape that you wish to import

    alternatively you can copy/paste the shape from xtreme directly into 3D

    you can only 'open' xara3D files in xara3D

    like as not you have imported the bitmap as well or instead of the vector trace
    bitmaps always have rectangular shape
    if you made the file in xara if you can post it up will take a look

    Blootoof, what did you import?

    Raster images which are also known as bitmapped images do not contain any information about edges, curves, or lines. They consist of binary 1's and 0's only. Files in gif, jpg, png, tiff, and bmp are some of the many raster formats. Importing one of those file types will only show the bounding edges of the raster image, the rectangle.

    Xara3D needs vector objects to tell it what shape to display. A vector describes edges, curves, and lines.
