Fireworks png import

HI,

Can Xara import a Fireworks png and have all the layers and objects editable?

It looks like Xara can do all Fireworks can, but I wonder if I can use, edit existing Fireworks files as opposed to flattened versions of a graphic.

Hi Steve,

Xara cannot import a Fireworks file that has the png extension.

I'm very surprised that fireworks adopted that file extension as it causes confusion with the Portable Network Graphic format that also uses png as it's file extension.

To my knowledge .png from Fireworks is true .png with some vector instructions added (I don't know where they are stocked in the file, perhaps as comments). It loads well in Xara but the vector parts are ignored and only the resulting bitmap image is loaded.

Probably this is the main reason.. creting this confusion helped macromedia to mantain the advantage to be the have the only program that could open his files just an opinion, I'm not an expert ^^

or am I wrong?
