I'm trying to make a logo design for my band, but I have no idea where to go! All I have is this so far:
I feel like it's too plain, though. Any suggestions would be fantastic.

What is your band's name, Ascendancy? What do you want your band to represent, stand for? What kind of music do you play? Does your music send any kind of message? Is it directed at a certain part of the demographic population?

When I looked at your design this is what I saw
I think it might be good to develop the four outer shapes to resemble fingers of a hand grasping a sphere, or develop it more as a head perhaps
Just my thoughts out of context
EDIT: ron posted as I was and he's right of course - without context its just working in the dark

Nothing lasts forever...
Upon 1st glance, to me it looked like 4 sperm cells swimming around a drain... When I think of ascendancy, I think of some mountain, or some peak where there is some rays of light, maybe coming from beyond it. Some mountainy-sunrise thing going on. Let me try to think of what shapes that would represent that...
hum do we really need the outer shapes whatever they may be?
rework them...

Well, the band name isn't Ascendancy, it's Tribulation. Thrash metal is what we play, so probably nothing about mountains or anything.
The logo doesn't even really need to "represent" something, even just a cool design.
That effect seems too goofy and would be hard to put into print, I appreciate everyone who has been helping me out with this as well.
The first design you make doesn't have to be the final version. If this one doesn't work out just try something else.
It might also be a good idea to keep the focus on the name.
