    Default Centre Point?

    Hi everyone,
I have not made many flash animations so I made a rough compass drawing with pointer and I want to know how do you line up the pointer or fix its centre to rotate without looking jerky.

My approach was to draw a large circle and group my graphic with the circle.
Then the center point would be at the center of the combined graphic. Once things were rotated, I ungrouped and removed the circle.

Very similar to Rich, but with less steps. Create your needle and a slightly larger circle. Set the circles transparency to 100%. Select both the circle and the pointer / Group / make it a named object. Copy Frame, rotate 90 degrees. Repeat three more times. You don't need to bother with the rotate+ in the name this way either.

I attach a xar file which is smooth. If you look at the group that makes up "needle" you will see it has a yellow filled circle if you remove the transparency.

And another way, only three frames.

There's always at least three ways in Xara ...

"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.

Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.
