Default Looking for tutorial to create similar effect

Does anyone know of a tutorial which explains how to create transparent cylinders, something like these, please?

I feel it should be possible to duplicate similar using Xtreme but I'm not sure how difficult this would be to do, or even how to go about it.

Apparently these transparent circles were rendered in Photoshop.

    Thanks.

I don't have a specific answer, but have you tried looking in the tutorials at www.xaraxone.com?

This may give you a clue on how to begin, maybe?

"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.

Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.

Intbel, Parahandy.. the .xar files are very helpful and I appreciate this. Thanks very much

Doug, yes I found something there which has been useful from guest tutorials 2003. Cheers.

Knew you'd all help me out. Think i'm on the right track again, thanks all.

I don't think anyone here has really gotten the same effect as the original, although Norman seems to be on the right track.
This could be a good challenge.

Using a brush... close but not quite!! (use the freehand tool, open the line gallery, open New Brush Strokes and select the test brush to draw with it)

    Graeme,
Your brush is still closer to the original yet. Very well done. Still, I don't think it's exactly like the original. I'm going to have to make an attempt.

    Well,
I failed to achieve the exact effect also. Ran out of patience after a while, but here's where I stopped.
