Default Cannot set font to BOLD

I have not been able to set Edwardian Script ITC to BOLD. Being new to Xara, I feel I may have missed something.

Not being a big issue I could probably get around it except the client wants this font in bold for a signature.

You should be able to set bold, have you checked with other fonts to see if you can set bold? if they are ok I suggest you reinstall the edwardian font.

Thank you sir, I shall try that.

Why can you select bold in Word this font and not in Xara?

Well as I have demonstrated it works in Xtreme. As I asked before have you checked with any other font using Xara to see if the bold option works in it.?

Xara will not bold any of the script fonts. It has no problem with standard non-script fonts.

I do not understand why your app works and mine does not. My OS, W2K, should not have any bearing on it. As I mentioned earlier, All fonts work correctly with Word and other applications.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks

Thanks for the response. I have been out of town for the last week.

I open a new page, type a name, highlight the text (F8), click on B using any script font and it will not change it to bold. Doing the same thing on any other standard font, such as Arial, and it works properly.

    Hi Oled,

Script Fonts sometimes are difficult to detect if they are bold or not.

Also some script fonts do not support bold, or are only available as bold.

The attachment shows a selection of some of the script fonts I have on my computer here at work. The first line of a font is not bold the second is bold. As you can see some look bold or not bold on both lines.

    Hi Bill,

I agree with you that some fonts are difficult to tell the difference, but none of the fonts you have shown will bold the type on my software. I received Xara over the weekend and installed it with the same results... this is most frustrating.

I have contacted Xara support and received confirmation on my email of January 9th so I guess I will wait.

I probably will remove and re-install the software from scratch, which support might want to do anyway.

    Many thanks for your help,

    Dan
