    Hi All:
I'm a digital media specialist (aka. graphic/web designer).
Been using Xara Xtreme the last month, and despite problems opening files and crashes, the interface is much better than Illustrator. I've been more productive and done better work than I have before!
    Glad to be here!

    Hello Scott,

    Welcome to Talkgraphics.

I'm glad to hear your overall experience with Xara Xtreme is favorable.

May I assume you are using the Linux version, as your post is in the Linux forum?

May I ask what file types your have experienced problems opening?

Have you looked at the bugzilla site to see if the problems have already been reported?

    Thanks Bill:
Yes, you may assume. I gave up on Windows a few weeks ago, after starting with Linux this last summer. But, pay no attention to the Mac OS 9 computer in the back room, with Photoshop on it.http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Been looking through the forum posts, did not get into the Bugzilla reports, do they list work-arounds there?
You'll see in the post after this the main problem that I'm experiencing. Located the other file I was experiencing this problem with, also uses a bitmap image (.jpg) that I imported into Xara. I had another issue with a file that I can't remember the error message for, in that case, I took the file to my other Linux box, which is also running Xara, and was able to import the file (not open it) and identify and delete the problem layer, thus fixing the file. That was a different issue and did not involve importing and using bitmaps.
    I'll check the bugzilla site.
    Thank you,
    Scott
