    Default Interactivity...

Is it possible In Xara Xtreme Pro to make a Flash animation that has basic interactivity? For instance is there a way to make a 'start' button?

It seems like it should be possible I just can't see how.

    Create your button.

Right click on it and in the resulting drop-down, select web address.

In the top text field put the frame number, to which you want the button to link as in Frame 6 ... making sure the space is incuded.

In the lower text field referring to target enter
    _frame

To stop the animation on a specific frame, rename the frame as in:

rename Frame 3 to Frame 3 ;stop

Thus, you can stop the animation wherever you choose and put in a button to take the user wherever you want, whether it be another frame or a url.

So, you might want the forst frame to have a start button.
For this, rename Frame 1 to Frame 1 ;stop and in the web address properties have the url as
    Frame 2

Thus, the animation will stop on frame one and the button will take the user to frame two and the animation will continue.

If you want the animation to loop continually without returning the viewer to Frame one, you could rename the Last frame to

Last frame ; goto Frame 2

In this way you have complete control of how the animations works.

    Also, see this thread

Thanks Raymond & Hans! Thanks for the straightforward instructions and the example. It will definitely help me and it will help my son David who is interested in this Flash stuff.

If you want to learn more on animating in Flash but don't want Flash itself
Goto Download.com do a search on SwishMax or Koolmoves(simple version of SwishMax)
Both programs are a bargin,Koolmoves (if you only want to animate,
Swishmax for animation and real interaction and programming

You're welcome ... 'tis all good fun and anyways, what I know I learned mostly from T.G. in the first place, so just passing stuff on is all.

Just too lazy to look for the appropriate, original, threads >grin<

Other than that they're both flash authoring apps and they both include some canned effects, I don't see them as similar at all. Actually, I find SWiSHmax easier to deal with.

Thanks to the help received I was able to make the attached slightly interactive swf. It uses bitmaps hence the relatively large file size. When I have time, it will be a good learning experience to try and optimize the file size of this one.
