    Default Underworld Walk

I know that is has past halloween but i wanted to try and draw something that used a distance idea.

I though of a walk with an enclosed walls (You will see what i mean in the drawing if you do not understand me) It then just ended up like this.

Please tell me what you think, it is a bit wierd i know but i have grown to apprecitie it. (Who am I kidding )

    Hi Paul,

A few things detract from the feeling of depth. If the doorway is at the end of a long corridor it would be smaller than the windows in the foreground. Unless they are very small windows

The wall where the door is located extends higher and wider than the nearer walls. Makes it appear closer to the viewer.

From your drawing, I would not expect windows near me to have objects at or near the same perspective as those seen outside the door. If the door was indeed at the end of a long corridor the near windows probably would show the interior of a room and not the outside world.

Just a few things that caught my eye.

    Paul,

Maybe an example would be better than trying to explain in words.

My attachment is a very quick drawing as I have to leave work in a few minutes for an appointment.

Bill i see what you mean.

However i was trying to show that the entrace wall at the back was a very big wall in the background that was still bigger than both of the side walls.

I don't think that my drawings conveyed this very well.

Is there a better way to show this or if not how do i correct my drawing it to make it look right.

    Whizz Kid...

That's what I thought. The wall in back looked very tall to me, with a very large door. I got the feeling that the corridor we are facing is in the open air, and that the vista on the other side is too inviting to be true.

Now, tell us what you were going for...

    Paul,

Using the dark colour you used on the back wall. I thought with the torches and doorway being the sources of light. Adding some mood may help give the impression of depth or distance.

    What do you think?

Soquili's lighting has certainly set a mood. I'm getting a Castle Wolfenstein 3-D game vibe going.

    Bill

You know how to set an example that is just what i was trying to achieve, spot on.

I will need to remember to use lighting in the future to help with the distance affect.

Would you mind Bill if i could see the xara file to see what lighting effects you used to help with the distance for my next drawings.
    (Please )
