It can look ridiculous, but I just can't type # in Xara. It shows the grid and that's all. I tried of course to import text... But that's not possible yet, on Linux (Suse 10.1). What can I do ?

Perhaps it's a bug in the current version of Xara Xtreme for Linux.
Are you able to open the attached XAR file and copy & paste the necessary chars in your drawing?
see also this thread for more ASCII chars

Hello Kujira,
Which revision are you using? In Xara Xtreme LX 0.7 revision 1763 I can type the # using all the fonts I have on my Linux system.

It works just fine with the .xar file. Many thanks. ^^
I use the Version: 0.7 (1692). Staaaaaaaable version. I'm such a coward...
I just realized that I'm getting bitten by this bug too.

It seems to be related to the localization, or lack there of, of the keyboard layouts.
Interestingly, I'm using a 'us' keyboard layout and the bug only affects me after I've used the grid during an editing session
As soon as I activate the grid, e.g. by turning it on in the menu, typing '#' in the text tool only toggles the grid. This behavior continues if I open a new document. However, if I restart Xtreme I can type #'s again as long as I don't activate the grid.
