I don't know if you are on windows, but I've used this quite a lot. It's a good free swf player. In fact it's called swiff player.

    Remi,

I thought I'd answered this thread (and the slur on your name) but Michaels post has highlighted that I haven't.

I thought that having the Flash Player present on your computer automatically allowed for non browser viewing of swf files. But obviously not. I'm really putting my head up my a** today!

lol, but you know that I was only kidding.

There is a technical reason for this: A Web browser needs a Plugin. The MS Internet Explorer needs another kind of plugin, as the Firefox Browser. But a Plugin isn't a standalone (executable) program - you aren't able to start a Plugin from your Windows Desktop.

cbutton69, there are links to a couple of standalone players in this thread. I've used the Swiff Player for several years. It works very well, although the frame rates don't match what I specify in SWiSHmax. (So far, that's been an issue in only one situation, a workaround most people won't encounter.)

I haven't yet tried the others that are recommended here.

    Hello

Mediaplayer 10 will open Flash files as will Quicktime.

Well, it comes with both a full install of Flash, as well as with the Flex SDK. The Flex SDK is downloadable from Adobe's website, free of charge. The file you're looking for is called SAFlashPlayer.exe, and is part of the package.

Click "Download the free Flex 2 SDK, including the Flex framework" at the bottom of the page to get to the download area.
