Wow! That is amazing! I have got to spend more time with Xara 3D and try and do work at least half as good as you. The chrome looks chromish, the red looks reddish plasticish (?) and the whole thing looks 3d!!! Great job!

Very impressive, Anas. Did you use swing animation to rotate the Mercedes logo into position?

    Thanks Bob, Soquili,
I'm still on 'Ripple' animation I'm afraid.
All the rotation was performed in Xtreme.
I'm having a little problem with the bonnet (which you can't see very due to the low view.
Atttached are all the vector shapes.

Very swish, Anas, the dark bands in the texture really make all the difference to the chrome effect. Had to play with that, so tried it out on a hubcap from an earlier image, looks great.

Obviously simsmj and salaam attended the same Xara 3D school that the rest of us skipped out on and went to the beach instead!!!
Or... simsmj and salaam are one and the same person.

So guys, did you add the dark bands in Xtreme after exporting it from 3D or were they part of the texture imported into 3D?

Hi, Drifter, I added the bands as a texture to the hubcap. I based it on a repeating fractal plasma fill, in black and white, and just experimented with different sizes of patterns, and tweaked the lighting in Xara3D to highlight the edges, and of course the hubcap should be gloss rather than matt in the extrusion dialogue box.

I guess you've noticed that Anas and I never appear simultaneously on the forum

Nice alloys Mike, is this a new one as I seem to remember you doing one before. The 'text' sides look especially good, although maybe it's because you have used a low resolution image.

Anas, the purpose of the original image was to show off the tyre, and so the hub was bland, as I hadn't put much effort into it. It was matt and had no texture.

After I saw your Mercedes badge, I was inspired to experiment a bit with chrome textures, and the hub image happened to be the first that came to hand that I could usefully apply them to, so it was just a lucky choice.

The text sides show some effects because they are gently curved, and I re-adjusted the lighting to enhance the highlights, some of which appear on the sides.
