    Default Creating 3D Software boxes.

I will like to be able to create 3D boxes like any of these:

    http://www.divelements.co.uk/net/controls/

Is there any tutorial i can see that shows how to do this using Xara Xtreme.

    Thanks,
    Ayo.

Note: The boxes also have a reflection at the bottom.

    Welcome ayodahunsi,

Using both Xara Xtreme & Xara3D it's possible, but not easy. Xara3D is mainly for creating 3D text, but can be used with shapes. You've got 2 problems:

1: Xara3D can only have a Texture applied to one face, so you'd have to create 2 Xara3D files, one for each face, then export them & join them in Xtreme.

2: You aren't able to create reflections in Xara3D, so again you'd need to fake this in Xtreme.

How many of these boxes do you need to create?

I have both Xtreme and X3D.. So you re-created this image using both? that is cool.. This is really what i want to do.
The box i want to create does not have the same name as
the one you did, and all i just want is a box.

As you asked could make a 3D image Xtreme, rather than in Xara 3D I knocked this up.

Dimensions are different, but a rectangular box is a rectangular box ... the principles are identical.

The .xar file attached for image breakdown.

Another NON-XARA method for 3D box creation.

Download the FREE verison of Google-SketchUp. Create a cube with the exact diimenisons of your box (will take you all of 10 seconds max.).

Import a png or Jpg image of each side of the box (which I assume you make in Xara or take a digital photos of) and anchor each image to its respective face of the cube. Again, this will only take a few seconds to do.

Export from SketchUp as a PNG or a JPG and bring back into Xara if you want to tweek the image further.

In the attached, I placed a photo onto the side of a cube.

    *********************************************

Other method is to use Xara's Mould (perspective tool) and apply it each side's artwork. I believe there are tutorials explaining this at www.XaraXone.com. Also, look for a movie on the Mould Tool in the Help menu.

I enjoyed creating that boxshot image above but to be honest, if I had an ongoing requirement for this type of shot I'd use Truespace (it's the only true 3D app I own). You create the artwork in Xara, export to raster and texture map it to your box in Truespace. Add whatever background (or none), set your camera position and lighting and boing boing you're done. When you need another boxshot, you just create another image in Xtreme and texture map it to your existing box layout in Truespace. Job done.

You can create a frame and then use Xtreme's Perspective Envelope (Mold Tool) to snap flat panels onto the frame. See The Mold Tool and Envelopes/
