    Pipe Guy,

This doesn't make sense! The settings in the bottom info bar have no influence on the file. If you're importing the .wmf into "pipe_guy.x3d" and it's still oval then your .wmf file must be oval and not circular.

You'll need to post the .wmf file here so we can look at it. As the forum won't let you post a .wmf you'll need to post it into a folder and zip it, then we'll be able to view it.

We're 'cross posting' at the moment.

OK...new "shot in the dark" attempt
For ILLUSTRATOR, under the preferences, the settings are
    size/leading 2 pt
    tracking 20/1000em
    baseline shift 2 pt
    Greeking 6 pt

    What does all that mean???
Basically it means ILLUSTRATOR is supplying more information than is required for a simple .wmf. All of these "tags" or whatever they're called are for print, not monitor display.

In Illustrator try to convert your TEXT to SHAPES, or a similar term. Then try to export as .wnf

Here is a zip of my files. You will see in the 3d6 file that my "circle" is not round at all compared to EGGS circle/square hole.

The other 2 files are the WMF that I imported into 3d6 and the button logo that should fit over top as a texture.

Any ald all help would be greatly appreciated

(BTW...is there a way to "reset" preferences in Xara 3d6?)

I opened your .wmf in Illustrator 10 and it isn't a circle.

The attached .gif shows your .wmf in Illy and also in X3D.

The attached .x3d file contains a circle (actually a full stop, also known as a period in the USA).

So how do I correct that???? Is that skewing created in Illustrator or Photo shop???

THis is the kind of stuff I'm creating for mobile phones.

You will see that the 3D stuff I do is small. Can someone please guide me into what software I can use to generate the proper WMF files (or what ever files Xara 3d6 can work with)

    How was the circle created?

Photoshop and Illustrator can create a clean circle (use a vector layer and no others in Photoshop) that can be exported as a .wmf file.

I recommend Xara Xtreme and Xara3D6 as the best combination of programs for making 3D shapes like those you are making. You can create a shape in Xtreme and copy it to the clipboard then paste it into Xara3D6. No intermediate steps are required.

Circle was created in Photo shop by selecting the image..delete background...bucket fill image....convert to PNG.
Then open PNG file in Illustrator...Live trace...delete background...export to WMF
Open WMF in 3D6....have an oval!!!!

I will have to download the demo of Xtreme.

But that doesn't solve the skewing issue (if I find that I don't like/ can't afford Xtreme)

    Pipe Guy,

The problems you are encountering are pre Xara3D.

In other words, the programs that your using to create your circles are the programs causing the problem.

Your attached files are NOT circles. I attach a screen grab of your wmf.

OK...it was done in a rush so I could post it...little rough around the edges...but still round, not squished.

I am starting to reverse engineer the skewing issue and know its "pre-xara", but not sure which step prior to it.

I willtry to post a copy of the step-by-step guide that I follow.
