Careful, Frank, these things can be addictive! You can lose many hours that way, trying out all sorts of different options and approaches but its an extremely good way to learn the capabilities of the software.

    Looking good.

    Splitting image...

Big Frank, how did you get the outer heart frame separate from the inner in Xara 3D? Or did you take it apart in Xtreme first?

However you did it, it looks especially cool. Would love to learn that technique!

You just split your shape by drawing a heart-shaped line over the top of your master shape and hit Ctrl 4. This gives you two shapes which you paste into X3D. You position them one right inside the other and you just rotate the inner shape. Hey, ho, Bob's your uncle!

    Thanks, Big Frank...

As usual, your explanation was clear (even to me) and easy to follow.

    Hi

I've been trying to find a spinning Nottingham Forest badge but have had no luck. Is this something you could do for me?

I've been trying to find one for my son with an England flag background with the forest badge spinning on the top of it. Failing that just a spinning badge will be ok.

One of his friends had one but before he could send it to him his friend lolst his phone.

    thanks

    Hi there

I am having a bit of trouble getting to grips with this (I'm graphically challenged at the best of times!) and have followed the excellent tutorial on page 1 of this topic, however, when I import the texture it doesn't seem to fit what I have cut out. The images below show what I am trying to do. The first image is with the texture applied, the second two I'm not sure if they help, but it's better to have too much information than not enough! The second image is no texture applied (I must admit I'm quite pleased with my cutting out!) and the third is the source logo that I was cutting round.

When I cut round the logo I get the edges quite well (I think), is there anything anyone can suggest? I've tried reducing the size of the texture, but it still seems disproportionate to the size of the cutout.

    Many thanks in advance.

    That good Chris well done

I use xara3D a lot for making 3D shapes, rarely do I use it for texturing, however giving yours a go I found I had to adjust the size of the texture to get a better fit.
However if resizing dosn't work too well for you it may be that your trace is not quite accurate, in terms of proportion.
I 'cheated' I traced with a tracer and not by hand.
    See attached.

Thank you very much for that, that looks impressive.. How would I go about getting a tracer if I wanted one? Thanks for your help!
