Default Importing AI files into Corel 12

When clients send AI files, I typically import them into Corel.
I then save and export them into Corel or other file formats
for production. Recently, the AI files won't import and a friend
told me this is due to Adobe moving to a C2 format.

Do I need to upgrade from Corel 12 to be able to import AI
files given this new C2 structure ? I'd rather not spend
600.00+ dollars on AI to be used as a glorified utility since
I'll continue to do all my other work in Corel.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Get the OberonPlace.com scripts for copy and pasting from Illustrator into CorelDRAW. They work really well.

Only you have to have Illustrator on the clipboard in order to make that work.

I still use those same scripts in X3. Some of Illy's .pdfs I can open or import, others, I use the script for.
Every day's a new day, "draw" on what you've learned.
