I've been wondering for a really long time, but unable to figure out how this logo was made. I'd be grateful if someone could shed light on this so that I can increase my knowledge of Xara.

What part of the logo are you referring to?
The 1011010 in the center is text on a path, actually a series of circular paths. The arrows are hand drawn and rendered to look like there is transparency.
The next Xara Xone Workbook, on-line Friday, will cover how to make a vector version of logo from a bitmap. This might help a little.

I was wondering how those arrows can be drawn so neatly. And regarding the spikes in the center. Is that drawn in a normal fashion or was it made in a special way?
And regarding the workbook, its Wednesday here at my place now. So the workbook should be up by this Friday.. Am I right?

I tried to download your XAR file twice. Each time I only got a blank page. Very strange as the file size is 2.6 kb.

Open the layer gallery.
You will find two layers.
Make 'em visible and they will become er... visible ...
