Xara Xtreme Saving as .png with transparent background?

I am thinking about buying Xara X but have a couple of questions...

1. Is it possible to save an image as a .png with a transparent background?

2. I already have PhotoImpact 10. Will Xara X produce sharper graphics and text than PI10?

I am looking to do art work for T-Shirts.

Welcome to Talkgraphics.

Yes, Xara Xtreme can export to .png format with Alpha transparency.

I'm not sure about being sharper as I don't have PhotoImpact. Xara Xtreme is a vector program, so it's vector objects can be resized without causing the 'jaggies' that bitmap editors cause when resizing images.

Hi Jeri,

I think, you're on the right way:

1. PNG is the right bitmap format to export sharp bitmap images together with transparency.
2. Xara Xtreme (Xara X isn't the correct name, Xara X is an old version of Xara Xtreme) exports really good PNG bitmaps. Therefore, I export my drawings in PNG format, whenever it's possible.

btw: The attached bitmap is a PNG transparent bitmap.

What version of artwork is up to the silk screener, unless you are doing the presswork yourself. Xara is capable of about any output you need.
