Norman, pull the work apart and you will see.

While Valery is an artist, I am a long way from being so, though it is coming.

What I do is more technical than an artistic at the moment.

Rather like painting by numbers - I want to draw a picture so break the pic into its component shapes, draw each shape and fill it with the appropriate colour(s). Many colours (or shades of colour) can be applied to each shape using the fill tool and each shape can then be played around with using the feather and transparency tools. And/or the two fractal tools ...

Rather like you making a bench really - you make each component first then assemble them.

Looking at pics as an assembly of shapes works. Well, for me it does, for this overcomes (hides?) lack of artistic ability.

Attached the baby Xar file for examination ... though Valery's offer far, far more.

Yes Intbel, thank you, I realised I would find out if I pulled the examples apart
trouble is I cannot with either your example or Valery's. Ungroup etc is ghosted and attempting to pull them apart as they are, nothing happens . Where am I going wrong please.

Um .. I am not sure.
'Ungroup' is only ghosted if what you have selected is not a group?

Maybe you are attempting to ungroup a selection which is a single object and not a group?

Attached is the same file with everything ungrouped ... though there may just be a one or two I have missed in one of the eyes.

Have a look and any more questions I'll answer if I am able.
