I'm working on a portrait now, making more use of Val's method (ellipses).
Also, more comprehensive use of the fill tool which up to now I've only used for up to three colours.

No intention of doing this one entirely in ellipses - eyelashes, for example, are (until au fait with this ellipse thingo) more quickly drawn individually.

For some reason, after drawing the head outline I generally begin with the right eye.

    So far, then:

Thank you Valery, this is very generous of you.
I have spent many hours now trying to understand every aspect of this technique. Last night I figured out how to create the folds in the material using Fractal a stretched plasma fill. I shall take great interest in gradually disecting the image and improving my technique accordingly.

Not one to hang about when there is summat useful to learn here is my first effort using just ellipses. The more you do the easier it becomes.

Um .. okay, except for hair and eyelashes - those I drew with the line tool.

Again, many thanks to Val for allowing us to analyse his files.

Yes thank you Valery and Intbel a very nice job of the baby boy. I still have to understand how it was all done. A lot of artistic talent there.

Well done old man, well done. Someday if I ever get old like you maybe I can do some great art also..........frank By the way, I thought we (you) were going to take the "bald" road.

Another 'Thank you' for you, Valery. Your work is both fantastic and amazing, and it is very kind of you to let us tear it apart and learn from you. I greatly appreciate it, even though I may never reach your level, due to busy-ness in other areas.

    Thank you.

    David
