Rich, I'm really enjoying your images. Yep, you can really get fantastic texturing with this technique. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

    Thanks Grafixman,

I have problems photographing close up in windy conditions. I often get undesireable results. This image was not in crisp focus. I like the tattered creatures, and am disappointed when I miss an oppertunity with a blurred image. I was thinking than since the clone uses the color and not the image resolution, I could improve the image and make it not so blurred. Rich

What process do you use to separate the butterfly from the background?

    Judi,

I mostly use Xara X1, and save to PNG/alpha. If I am going to use it in Painter, I have to open the file in Photoshop and save in PSD. I have Knockout 2, but get cleaner extractions from X1. I have been trying the tools in Painter, and have done a couple of separations there. Rich

This was a link Maureen posted at Pixelparity. I have been looking at these methods. Thought this was a good resource. Rich

I don't have Photoshop. I don't know about PIX but P8 still doesn't import PNG files.

Using Painter6, I could create a 256 transparent bitmap copy in Xara and copy it and paste it into Painter and the transparency would be retained. This was really neat because it eliminated the need to create a GIF file just to create an floater object in Painter. You can no longer do this in P8, I think it has something to do with the new "photoshop" style masks, and alpha channels.
