    Default background problem

I received this file for use on a website. I don't know what program created it. The client wants a colored background on the site. How can I get rid of the white background. It didn't work to just export as transparent gif. Can anyone help?

Use transparency>Flat>Stained Glass > adjust slider bar back to 0 transparency.

Ask them for the original art work, if they don't have it, you might
have to reproduce it, it is a bit of work but for future reference it is best
    being vector graphics.

I agree with behzad... It's always best to have the original art work, so press for that from your client. If they don't have the original source files themselves, you can always offer to build them a new vector art version at a slight charge.

On the other hand, if the gif is all you have to work with, I would highly recommend doing this kind of work with a raster graphics editor. With Photoshop (for example) it's trivial to punch out the background of an image. I'm not particularly familiar with Gimp, but I was able to do a rough job there in a couple minutes.

The right tools for the right job, I always say. Xara is completely brilliant. So is a Jaguar XK, but I wouldn't try to carry a load of lumber in one, if you get my meaning.

WOW! Thanks for your quick replies! This is just what I needed. Now I can proceed with the rest of the coding.

One quick note... always be sure to test your transparent images in Internet Explorer. Their support of transparent PNGs is spotty, to say the least.
