Your deleting your selection. You could try inverting the selection, and deleting the background. Rich

It still ends up white like on a black canvas i put it on. Made the selection when to invert pressed delete and it still went white.

This was a selection copied and pasted. The selection gets pasted onto a new layer with a transparent background. The original image gets turned off.

I believe you can promote your selection to a layer, too.

Using the selector tool to promote a selection. The selection has been moved from the original layer. Rich

I am not sure if your question /problem is but it may be that you wish to lasso the shape and copy it. so that's what to do Lasso then go up to copy then click on paste and select paste as new image. Like I did tho my hand slipped and I cut off the rear of the horse but you get the idea. sorry that should read paste as transparent selection on to your new back ground.

Unless of course you wanted to cut out the rider at the back along with its background, In which case you use the square selection tool and surround/select the piece of the picture you want. Then cut and paste it as a new image. I hope I have it right this time. Yikes I just realised I did it with psp not corel painter I hope they use the same tools.Sorry.

If this is a problem with getting a good selection, then you can use Shift to add to the selection and Alt to subtract from the selection when using the lasso tool.

If the background is white, you could use auto select instead.
